With less than nine days to go until the 2017 NMRA Ford Nationals season commences, we’re excited as can be to get in on the all-Ford, Blue Oval-only action to come. Beginning with the season opener, the 23rd Annual Nitto Tire NMRA Spring Break Shootout out of Bradenton, Florida, our friends at UPR Products have removed the covers on the Modular Xtreme class—which you’ll be able to watch live on SpeedVideo.com as it happens.
Taking place during the weekend of March 2-5 will be an epic battle of the baddest Mod-motor powered Mustangs on the planet. “The Modular Xtreme calls is an eighth-mile racing class featuring outlaw-style modular powered vehicles,” UPR told us. “Any non-tube chassis Mustang equipped with a late-model modular-based V8 overhead-cam engine will be eligible to compete.”
This means that virtually any Two-Valve, Three-Valve or Four-Valve 4.6-liter and 5.4-liter powered Mustang, as well as 5.0-liter Four-Valve and 5.8-liter Four-Valve powered ones, can compete in the class. The rule list is xtremely simple as well; allowing for virtually just about any power-adder combination in the class.
Save for a 275-specific tire (or 10.5-inch slick), a non-tube chassis and a stock-style suspension, this class is virtually anything goes when it comes to the engine, exhaust, and transmission. With less than two weeks away, you can catch all of the Modular Xtreme action sponsored by UPR Products live as it happens on SpeedVideo.com if you can’t attend the event in person.
The livestream is brought to you by BMR, UPR, Fast, Comp Cams, Driven Racing Oil, E3 Spark Plugs, Covercraft, and Edelbrock.
