The NMRA and NMCA are set to put on a colossal display of horsepower at Atlanta Dragway when the 9th Annual NMRA NMCA All-Star Nationals kicks off April 6-9th. This event brings in racers from both organizations to one location for a weekend filled with great racing. With this race being the second stop of the season for both sanctioning bodies, the pits are always packed with racers looking to position themselves well in the points standings. The facility at Atlanta Dragway is a favorite with the racers because of how well the track is prepared for the event and allows them to really turn the wick up on their cars.
Heads-up racers from both the NMRA and NMCA will be in attendance at the event battling it out to see who will park in the Aerospace Components Winner Circle. Fans can expect to see the NMCA classes Xtreme Pro Mod, Pro Stock, Nitrous Pro Street, Radial Wars, N/A 10.5, Extreme Street, Chevrolet Performance Stock and Street Outlaw in action. On the NMRA side of things, racers from Renegade, Coyote Modified, Factory Stock, Coyote Stock, and Street Outlaw will be lining up all weekend for racing action.
A highlight of the event will be the Factory Super Cars class because it always provides tight racing. This heads-up class features COPO Camaros, Drag Pak Challengers, and Cobra Jet Mustangs all racing heads-up against each other. The competition in this class is just as fierce today as it was when factory muscle car drag racing started back in the 1960s!
Another great specialty shootout is the Chevrolet Performance Stock vs Coyote Stock All-Star Showdown that’s held during qualifying at the All-Star Nationals. The three top qualifiers from each class are entered into the heads-up Showdown. These racers are looking to prove what brand is best for bragging rights, bring home the hardware, and score a nice $1,000 in prize money for their efforts.
One of the biggest draws of the weekend is the wind and unpredictable Xtreme Pro Mod class. These are the quickest and fastest cars in the NMCA, and the racers all have their sights set on adding an All-Star Nationals win to their resume. There will be a mixture of nitrous, supercharged, and turbocharged entries, so the racing will be exciting to watch.
Besides all the heads-up action, the diehard racers of Open Comp, Nostalgia Super Stock, Nostalgia Muscle Car, S3 Stock/Super Stock Combo, Modular Muscle, Truck & Lighting, Ford Muscle, and True Street will all be racing. Mix that in with a huge Manufactures’ Midway, swap meet, and car show you have one great weekend of automotive fun for everyone.
