The difference in good hot rod builds and great hot rods builds is attention to detail. The finer details, like creating a theme that runs throughout the car, have often been limited to only the top builders. Billet Badges brings a whole new level of detail to home project builder by offering “small runs of one-off custom billet emblems.”

We asked Billet Badges’ Leif Hillestad exactly what was a small run. “One,” he replied. “This is something that one guy, with one car that he’s given a nickname, or changed the engine in, and wants a badge for it. He doesn’t need a hundred badges, just one or two. So, we are here for them.”

The thought of having a custom badge on the trunk, hood, and fenders excites most of us. The process is simple enough. “A customer will come to us with an idea or something they are looking for,” said Hillestad. “We listen to what they are after and get some of the details. From there I come up with concept based on their description.”

“From the concept I come up with some artwork. Once we fine tune that into what the customer wants, it gets put into a CAD file and eventually into a badge.” As far as the design goes, anything is possible. “It’s pretty limitless,” Hillestad said, “There are some limits as far as licensing, but that’s about it.”

Taking a look around the 2018 SEMA show and the custom badges created by Billet Badges, we were sold on the theory that the sky was the limit. If you can imagine it, they can probably do it.
