Production on the 2019 Ford Ranger is well underway at the Michigan Assembly Plant, and if you have considered purchasing a new mid-size truck as your next daily driver or toy hauler, this may be one more reason to add the EcoBoost vehicle to the top of your list.
This week, Ford announced that the new Ford Ranger is the most fuel-efficient gas-powered midsize pickup in America. The all-new Ranger has earned an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 26 mpg highway and 21 mpg city, with a 23 mpg combined for the 4×2 truck versus the competition.

But it’s when this truck is configured in offroad form that it truly shines. The 4×4 Ford Ranger earned an impressive EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 24 mpg highway, 20 mpg city, and 22 mpg combined.
This gives the new 2019 Ranger a best-in-class EPA-estimated city fuel economy rating of any gasoline-powered four-wheel-drive midsize pickup.

“Midsize truck customers have been asking for a pickup that’s Built Ford Tough,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “And Ranger will deliver with durability, capability and fuel efficiency, while also providing in-city maneuverability and the freedom desired by many midsize pickup truck buyers to go off the grid.”
The 2019 Ford Ranger’s standard 2.3-liter, inline four-cylinder EcoBoost engine produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, which gives this truck the highest torque rating of any gas engine in the midsize pickup market.
When paired with the successful 10R80 transmission, it gives this new Ford vehicle a unique combination of power and efficiency. When properly equipped, the truck has also earned a best-in-class towing capacity and maximum payload award.
The 2019 Ford Ranger configurator is now live on the official Ford website, and it is estimated that the first initial trucks will begin arriving at dealerships nationwide in January 2019.
