When would you ever have the opportunity to run Route 66 with so many participating in a Bullitt movie tribute? — Hoondog Performance Group
Over 60 enthusiasts are already signed up to drive in a convoy to the annual Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show on Boys Republic Campus in the Golden State. If you weren’t aware, Boys Republic is a charity that assists troubled youth, and one that Steve McQueen contributed to during his life.
“When would you ever have the opportunity to run Route 66 with so many participating in a Bullitt movie tribute, with planned activities every day, ending with a McQueen tribute to Bullitt?” says the HoonDog event page. “Could you ever imagine that happening again? If you ever thought or dreamed of running Route 66, if you ever imagined such a Mustang extravaganza to support children… Well, stop imagining, and start planning, saving, schedule your 2018 vacation now for this once in your lifetime event!”
To sweeten the pot, Ford is supplying two preproduction 2019 Mustang Bullitts that will participate in the tour and be put on display at the various stops along the route, which runs from May 25 to June 3, 2018. Those stops include meet ’n greet cookouts in Oklahoma and New Mexico, as well as cruise-ins at car dealers in Missouri, Arizona, and Nevada. The tour wraps up at the Santa Monica Pier just ahead of the annual Steve McQueen show held on June 2.
