They say it’s not who you are, but whom you know. In the case of recently ousted President of Ford North America, Raj Nair, it was likely both. As a longtime proponent of performance and the man who spearheaded the Ford GT project, it’s not a huge surprise that the car’s builder, Multimatic, recently appointed him as its President and CEO.
On May 7, 2018 he took the position, and word first got out amongst the Blue Oval supercar loyalists on the Ford GT Forum. Multimatic Marketing Vice President Michael Guttilla recently made that proclamation official.
I’m really excited about joining the Multimatic team and our future. — Raj Nair, Multimatic
“Raj brings extensive knowledge, perspective and skills in engineering, manufacturing, management and overall auto industry experience to Multimatic,” he told Road & Track. “These qualities will help Multimatic attain another level of performance for our customers. The addition of Raj to our leadership team was about making a great company even better. His skill-set is perfectly aligned with Multimatic’s core competencies and purpose.”
As the man who oversaw one of the greatest eras in Blue Oval performance — one that saw everything from the F-150 Raptor and Focus RS to the Shelby GT350 and Ford GT hit the streets — he seems like a natural fit over at Multimatic, which has a tire in both the manufacturing and racing worlds.
“Thanks, everyone! I’m really excited about joining the Multimatic team and our future!” Raj said on The Ford GT Forum. “And of course, I’m so happy to be able to stay part of the GT community!”
It will be interesting to see what fruit this union bears, but it seems appropriate that that Raj is able to continue on with his imprint on the Ford GT.
