These days, it seems like it’s easier than ever to make big power in your Mustang with little to no drama involved. When you incorporate stronger components like a forged internals from the factory, then pair them with a set of high-flowing, Four-Valve cylinder heads, there’s no mystery as to why the latest Coyote 5.0-liter and Voodoo 5.2-liter V8s make so much power on so little boost and octane.

It’s why Brenspeed and Whipple Superchargers were able to produce gains of nearly 300 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels with a customer’s Shelby GT350. Using Whipple’s out-of-the-box calibration, this GT350 put down 788 horsepower and 576 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels on a Dynojet dyno, and that’s on a pulley good for 10 psi and tuned for 91-octane pump gas.

Of course the addition of Kooks 1 7/8-inch long-tube headers doesn’t hurt either. After all, where is all of that exhaust gas going to go if this Shelby can’t exhale? That said, we’re more than confident that there is still some meat left on the bones for this GT350 to make even more power. You can rest assured that the Gen 3 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger is up to the task of further boosting any application.

Oh, and don’t listen to those folks who tell you that the GT350’s flat-plane-crank will snap with a blower, either. This one seemed to do just fine.
