Hot on the heels of our peek at the Bullitt engine and a leak of the 2019 Mustang dealer order guide, Ford has opened the order banks for the latest Mustang Bullitt. The company also gave us a bit of a surprise by revealing the car is 5 horsepower stronger than we expected.
As you may recall, the Gen3 Coyote 5.0-liter in the Bullitt is upgraded with Shelby GT350 induction — cold air, throttle body, and intake manifold — and programmed with a unique calibration. All told it is said to deliver 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque and push the car 8 MPH faster than the Mustang GT to a top speed of 163 MPH.
“The new Bullitt will be every bit as cool and charismatic as the original ’68 Mustang,” Corey Holter, Ford car group marketing manager, said. “Since its introduction earlier this year, Ford dealers have been fielding calls from customers wanting to know when they can order this unique piece of automotive history.”
The limited edition 2019 model celebrates the 50th anniversary of the movie Bullitt, which features Steve McQueen piloting a 1968 Mustang GT fastback in one of the most iconic chase scenes in cinema history.
You can order your new version, starting at $47,495, in Dark Highland Green to call back to the movie car or in Shadow Black if you want a rare one down the road. The package is pretty well locked in otherwise with subtle styling, a manual transmission, and red Brembo brakes. You can opt for the Bullitt Electronics Package to get all the electronic toys and green-accent-stitched Recaros to better hold you in place while sliding around the streets of San Francisco.
Are you placing an order today, and if so, what options are you dialing up?
